The Slave Auction
We need you! Have you got a talent that you’re willing to put up for auction? It could be giving guitar lessons, teaching someone to ski, cleaning someone’s kitchen, being a chauffeur for a night out… anything you can think of really! All the money we raise is being used for events and making the society better for you, so please help out if you can :) Message Peter Stephens or any other committee member and let us know.

The slave auction is coming up in a week or so (more on that in the next weekly e-mail.)

Society Update

November 2nd, 2009

It’s Reading Week for many this week but for those of you still in Manchester there’ll be plenty going on.

Firstly though, we need your input! Check out the discussions page on our main LGBT uni facebook group.
We would love to hear your ideas on adverts, events and promotions and publicity feedback.
We’d also like to know what you want from your LGBT Ball (!) so we can make it the best one yet :)

For all union events the students’ union will pay £5 towards childcare costs to enable students to attend. For more information contact Hazel, the Union’s women’s officer, on 01612752939 / womens@umsu.manchester.ac.uk

See you in the week!
Much love,
Sam xx
Co-Chair (Women’s Place)

Bookgroup

It’s not too late to join Bookgroup! We meet every other Wednesday in the Peer Support Centre on North campus – keep an eye out for our Facebook events. We’ve just started to read ‘Hero’ by Perry Moore (you can find reviews and a cheap copy on Amazon). If you want to join us, get yourself a copy and read the first 100 pages or so – it’s quite easy going. Our next meeting will be on Wednesday evening after reading week. All welcome – whether or not you’re LGBT, whether or not you’ve ever been to a bookgroup, come along for a friendly chat and some cake :-)

The LGBT Welfare Campaigns Collective

There will be no meeting this week but it will be back on on the 12th November at 12.30pm.

Do you think it’s unfair that gay and bisexual men can’t give blood?
Do you think it’s unfair that civil partnerships are not equal to marriage?
Want to help work with charities like Broken Rainbow who support LGBT domestic violence victims?

Come along and get involved!
